A decree, jointly presented by the Italian Ministry of Agriculture and the consortium "Origin Italia" (an association dedicated to protecting Italian DOP-IGP labels, equivalent to French AOC-AOP and IGP labels), allocates €25 million to promote DOP-IGP products both nationally and internationally, as well as measures supporting sustainable development.

The "DM Promozione" aims to enhance and increase the market presence of DOP-IGP products, develop informational and promotional activities about the origins and unique qualities of these products, boost the representation of relevant protection consortiums, and utilize research outcomes to enhance sustainability measures within the sectors.

Italian Minister of Agriculture Francesco Lollobrigida emphasized that this decree aligns with a broader effort to strengthen "geographical indications" (IG) at both European and national levels. The European Parliament recently unanimously approved new regulations on IGs, and the Meloni government has implemented concrete measures to combat counterfeit "Made in Italy" products.
