"High-End Coffee Consumption Increased by 48% in Spain in 2022 "

An increasing number of Spaniards are opting for premium coffee over traditional coffee. Specifically, high-end coffee consumption surged by 48% in 2022. This shift is largely due to consumers prioritizing the quality of the beans and the roasting process when choosing their coffee.

According to the author of this analysis, the Mediterranean Observatory of Spanish Distribution, "high-quality coffee" is defined as coffee made from 100% Arabica specialty beans or those with sustainability certifications such as Fair Trade or Rainforest Alliance. In contrast, "traditional coffee" is defined as coffee made from 100% Robusta beans.
